A word from the Farmer~
Thank you to everyone who came out to the Bluemont BBQ Bash this past Saturday. We hope you had as much fun as we did! Congratulations to the grand champion overall winner, Deguello BBQ, from Springfield, VA!This was a first time event for us and we learned so much and have some great ideas for next year to make the event bigger and better. The number one feedback was that Shawn's BBQ, the one competitor that sold BBQ for lunch, was awesome and that guests would love to sample from more competitors, so that is the big goal to figure out for next year.
This week marks the half way point of the 2011 season and we have LOTS of great items coming on nicely for boxes and u-pick! The tomatoes have arrived in a big way this week and look great throughout the month, especially if we receive a few thunderstorms!
Our corn maze is growing nicely. This season we have a western themed maze that promises to be a bit more challenging than last year's maze. We have completed the first cutting of the paths in the corn. We have to go over the paths about 5 times to stop all the corn from growing and to get things in order for you all to enjoy. The maze will open this September and be open into the first weekend in November.
Bounty and Blessings,

Italian parsley, chopped 1 Tbsp. fresh chopped basil 2 cloves garlic, minced 1/4 tsp. Tabasco sauce Salt and Pepper to taste 8 large tomatoes, diced 2 large cucumbers, diced 3 avocados, peeled and diced Croutons grated Parmesan cheese
Combine juice, onion, olive oil, vinegar, red pepper, parsley, garlic, Tabasco sauce, and salt and pepper. Refrigerate for 6 hours or overnight. Next day add tomatoes, cucumbers, and avocados. In a pinch the refrigeration step can be skipped, but the soup is better served cold.
